Air Raid Siren

Did I ever tell you about the air raid sirens in Toyota? It's been happening for so long that I can no longer remember who I've told. Anyways, at apparently random times of the day and night a loud siren (air raid-esk) will blast away several times for a 30second to 1 minute period.

It took me forever to find out that these are apparently sychronized to impending heavy rain and wind warnings. I guess the local authorities find it more convenient to blast a siren for 5 minutes at 3 in the morning and then again at 5am instead of broadcasting with TV or radio. Not that I've ever experienced war, but that's the impression these sirens give me.

I've tried tracking one down once, but I'm never able to narrow it down enough to come up with anything. Everyone in non-air-raid zones of the world please enjoy your sleep.
