Play by Play

We’ve all watched cooking shows (like the Iron chef; bless it’s soul) and been impressed the awesome stuff they can turn out in just 30 minutes time. We’ve also all watched sports on TV. These two things have something in common, a play by play analysis. The main difference is that cooking shoes are pretty laid back relaxed pace shows. NOT here in JAPAN they aren’t!

I was watching a little bit one this morning, and it was like watching the Kentucky Derby or something. There was some guy yelling into the mic as flash frames of different ingredients being added strobed on my massive 12” TV set.

“AND HERE COMES THE PASTA!!! STRAIGHT FROM THE POT! HE’S STRAINING IT… STRAINING IT… NO WATER!!!! IT’S STRAINED! INTO THE FRY PAN… BUT WAIT… THE PAN ALLREADY HAS FRIED SHRIMIP! WHAT A SURPRISE THIS IS TURNING OUT TO BE!!! AND WHAT’S THIS… OUT OF NOWHERE COMES VINEGRETTE SAUCE!!! I have to admit we didn’t expect to see this today… TRULY SENSATIONAL!!!!!!”

and you wonder why people in Japan can’t relax.
